St. Johns County Predictive Model, Florida

Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) prepared a cultural resource predictive model for St. Johns County, Florida in 2001.  St. Johns County received a Grant-in-Aid from the Florida Department of State to conduct an archaeological study of the unincorporated areas of the county in order to assist preservation of below ground cultural resources.  The Scope of Work called for the development and delivery of a reconnaissance level Archaeological Survey of St. Johns County, including a predictive model to determine areas of the unincorporated County with high, medium, and low probability of archaeological resources.  Literary and field information was gathered that facilitated the development of GIS layers showing the probability for locating archaeological sites throughout the County.

In 2007, ESI was contracted by St. Johns County to update the original predictive model.  New information included topographical data that was available during the 2001 study, as well as cultural resources that were recorded in recent years.
