ESI

Environmental Services, Inc. (ESI) has completed over 1,400 successful projects since 1992. These projects illustrate ESI's technical competence, responsiveness, positive working relationships with local, state and federal review agencies and a comprehensive familiarity with applicable municipal, state and federal regulations.

Cultural resource services provided by ESI meet all state and federal requirements for conducting archaeological and historical surveys, site significance testing, and site mitigation.

Cultural Resource investigations are time-consuming. The ESI team advises clients of potential requirements for cultural resource studies early in the project, which minimizes delays. We also help our clients fully understand their options when cultural resources are identified.

Our additional services include underwater archaeology, architectural evaluations, literature reviews, background and archival research, development of research designs, and preparation of artifacts for curators.

Reports are prepared according to municipal, state, and federal standards. Depending on permitting requirements, they are submitted to the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO), the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (COE), or other federal or county government agencies for review. All sites are assessed for significance in terms of eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places pursuant to requirements of the National Historic Preservation Act (1966).

ESI provides the following services in our Archaeology Division:
Archaeological Surveys
Historic Structure Surveys
Underwater Archaeology
Interpretative Displays
Predictive Modeling
Cemetery Studies

ESI has the knowledge and experience to expertly guide projects through the cultural resource regulatory process.

*ESI partners with select engineering and surveying firms in North Carolina for engineering and survey projects.
